This year’s winter never quite dug in like it usually does, and now spring is coming on early. The hills are starting to green up, and with it the country is waking back up. Critters that laid low through the cold months are drifting up out of the valleys, easing their way toward the high ground. Before long, the elk and deer will be showing themselves more regular, following the fresh grass as it climbs the mountains. Even the bears are already stirring, shaking off their long winter sleep and getting back to roaming.
