RENEWAL RETREAT QUOTES/TESTIMONIALS

I was blessed with Hawley Mt. for 3 visits, each time being able to connect with the beauty that surrounds there and taking it deeply within oneself. If you are yearning to find who you really are, you deserve to treat yourself to the wellness week. Its not selfish to do this for oneself. Trust me you will walk away a totally different being. The staff, natures beauty at its best is the closest thing to heaven on earth.

I think the week redefined my sense of wildness (leafiness, we dubbed it). I absorbed the mountains through sight and the rocks through feel of my feet whether hiking or standing during stretches. Our journaling sessions by the Boulder River were a partiular favorite. The interaction with staff because it was a smaller group than in the summer, was also a great time -- particularly at the Campfires. Making the prayer beads and learning about meditation with them remains a highlight. I lost my beads shortly after I left and then miraculously found them when a friend found the glasses case they were in in his car many months later. In the book I made about our week, all of our prayer beads are shown hanging from a tree -- leafiness for sure. At the end of the week I experienced an incredible peace. I am coming back September 19 with 5 or 6 good hiking friends from Colorado.

After three flights and a three hour car journey, you could say my expectations for my trip to Hawley Mountain Ranch were high. Driving up the dusty path to see the guest lodge perched high on the cliff top practically dangling into the breathtaking view beyond, I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed.

I visited the ranch in September 2009 during Wellness Week – a programme designed to use the beautiful surroundings and a range of activities to help each guest find what it is that will renew and restore them during their stay. Yoga, hiking, horse riding, fishing, mala making and more were all on offer and we could choose to do everything or nothing. Everyone wanted to do everything and the days were full, slipping by quickly, punctuated by hearty home cooked meals served up like clockwork three times a day.

At night there were cookouts and star gazing, even an auction. We got to know each other well, the six guests and I, but also too, the Hawley Mountain family. By ‘family’, I don’t just mean the Jarrett’s, co-owners of the ranch, but the staff too, who we ate with and drank coffee with and sang with around the fire. By the end of the week I was starting to feel like part of this extended family too. And judging by the letters from previous guests on the walls, I wasn’t the only one.

It’s a long journey to Hawley Mountain from Dublin, but one I hope to make again. Because in a world where there is always so much that has to be done - and done now- a week spent in the quiet rhythm of Hawley Mountain Ranch is balm for the soul.

The Hawley Mountain first annual Wellness Retreat was a life-changing experience for me, when all I expected was a simple week-long escape from the daily grind. Not only is the facility as picturesque as can be in this breath-taking remote valley, but the employees and owners make the experience a treasure I will always hold dear. As for the yoga, all I can say is I’ve never felt so great in my life, and I consider myself to be somewhat athletic in nature. Morning and afternoon sessions brought an inner peace that keeps on giving long after my return to the city. And the food at the ranch! What can I say, other than it’s a culinary treat that it out of this world.

If you want a vacation that’s an experience that keeps on giving year-round, then go to Hawley Mountain Ranch’s Wellness Retreat, where you’ll forget about the trials and tribulations that weigh you down, and come out a better lighter person in spirit.

Driving down Boulder Road for what seemed like hours toward such new territory was unsettling. The moment Hawley Ranch came into view, everything became extremely calming and peaceful. The opportunities to fly fish, ride horses, and practice fantastic yoga overlooking the mountain peeks were abundant. I was free to explore any internal or external discoveries about myself or the mountains. Morning meditations, followed by journal writing, or yoga movement transitioned us into fantastic meals, walks, talks and friendships. There isn't a day when I do not reflect upon the beauty of the experience.
